Hestia® gives us the ability to understand people’s needs more clearly in a non-invasive way. This allows us to ask the right questions, and make changes based on evidence. These sensors do the job of multiple other pieces of equipment.

For one of our residents, Hestia® revealed that seizures were happening at certain times of the day. This gave us the ability to work together to mitigate this. As a result, supported by six months of data, we were able to adapt the Continuing Healthcare package.

Service users are no longer being woken up every 20 minutes or half an hour for a visual check. Instead, if temperatures rise above a safe range the sensors will trigger an alarm so we can then check. Or if users are making unusual movements we also are alerted so we can check.

I've had seizures that wouldn't have been picked up if I didn’t have Hestia® sensors, and it keeps a record of my seizure activity. So, I can see just how many seizures I am having and take that useful data to a specialist and as well.

Hestia® gives us much better data on when, how and why residents fall at any time, day or night. This important information relating to the exact nature of falls and the changes that occur in residents’ mobility enable us to ensure we respond to each fall even better and to be more proactive so we can help prevent many falls which might otherwise occur.
