Frequently asked questions

Is Hestia a camera?

No – Hestia sensors are not cameras. They are thermal sensors that detect heat patterns in a room. Because our sensors work on temperature only, they cannot show faces or other visual details. We choose thermal sensors because of the level of privacy they provide and Tendertec is the only company offering this technology.

Hestia sensors and hubs are mains-powered and plugged-in. There are no batteries to change, no charging routines, and no risk of it running flat. It is designed to be a ‘fit and forget’ solution. If power ever cuts out or sensors are unexpectedly disconnected, the Hestia system automatically sends a notification.

Hestia communicates over your Wi-Fi or directly plugs into your router. We can also provide a 4G option where necessary. The system uses a very small amount of internet bandwidth. It does not interfere with, or restrict, other online activities such as watching TV, messaging, gaming, or internet browsing.

Hestia is simple to self-install and comes with step-by-step instructions. Or, for situations with many rooms or whole buildings we offer an installation service. It takes under 30 minutes per room to install and sensors are wall-mounted with strong adhesive strips (permanent drilling is possible if preferred). With the adhesive strips, sensors can easily be repositioned or removed if needs change. And for the technology, everything updates remotely, so there’s no maintenance.

No Capital Expenditure. Hestia is subscription-based to keep costs predictable and there are no separate upfront cost for equipment. We offer three price plans depending on your needs, starting from £69/month per room. Higher tiers include additional alerts, wellbeing changes, and full data reporting. All plans include hardware, software, updates, and customer support.

Hestia arrives pre-packed with two sensors. Sensor coverage is up to seven meters, so most rooms need just one. This means two rooms can be connected or larger rooms or unusual shaped rooms may need both.

Yes – cats and dogs create their own unique thermal pattern so are automatically filtered out and won’t trigger false alerts.
