Tendertec is a proud partner of the SMart Inclusive Living Environments (SMILE) project which will develop and test novel eHealth solutions that enable ageing in place. With pilots in Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Canada, we are supporting ageing in place for older people. 

The SMILE Horizon 2020 project is a new collaborative project launched in early 2021 funded by both the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research with up to €6 million to create smart inclusive living environments for older people with novel ehealth solutions that enable ageing in place. Specifically, the SLE ecosystem will provide an infrastructure, that not only supports older people to live independently and relatively actively, but also fosters collaboration and learning between older people and members of their circles of care.

The SMILE Consortium gathers 13 prestigious organisations from five countries (Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Greece, and Canada). They combine and use their expertise in innovative user- and participatory design and infrastructure, innovative care provision hosting living labs, implementing innovative AI-based solutions, infrastructures and smart home devices, technology cluster management excellence, and optimising value chains for health and innovation. 

SMILE enables ageing in place

The 3-year-long project SMILE will provide novel digitalised solutions to enable older people to live a healthy, self-determined, safe, and socially integrated life in their living environment. This support of “everyday life” is based on a concept combining prevention, prediction, communication, timely care & assistance. It will help older people remain connected with their community & live in their preferred place of residence for as long as they are able to meet their changing needs.

In a further step towards optimising the living environments, the quality of life & the circles of care of older persons, the SMILE consortium’s know-how will be used to promote and to develop innovation for the benefit of caregivers and family members too. Our SLE ecosystem will provide an infrastructure that will foster communication, collaboration & a continuous learning process between all the actors involved.

SMILE aims to develop an SLE ecosystem together with disruptive e-health solutions for improving the quality of life of older people in the society. The unique SMILE technology will support aged people to live independently and relatively actively, and will also foster collaboration and learning between the older people and the members of their circles of care.
